GPass is a free software used mainly to circumvent censorship from several countries like China, Pakistan, etc. This great software can also be used as a free solution to hide your ip.
The main idea of GPass is to wrap the traffic of your Internet applications in various formats and tunnels and then sent packets through various dynamic channels to its servers. The GPass servers unwrap the packets and forward them to their destination on your behalf, yet they hide your identity (i.e., IP address).
I have selected a list of pros and cons of GPass as hide ip solution. Here they are:
Pros:
- It is portable and it does not need installation. You just need to store GPass.exe in a folder, a flash drive, or a CDROM, and double click it to start it.
- Supports streaming audio/video, email, instant messaging, download managers, etc
- Servers are really fast
- Encrypts all web communication
- It supports Skype and Tor channels
- Easy to upgrade
Cons:
- There are only a limitted number of servers available
- You can not select the country for your cover ip.
- You will always be shown as from US.
Here are the steps you have to follow if you decide to try GPass:
- Download GPass from www.gpass1.com.
- Start GPass
- Select the fastest available server from the available GPass Servers

- Double Click on Default Browser
- Check your IP address (www.iplocate.info)
- Start browsing
- Enjoy!

freegate but know its down, so we stuck with ultrasurf
i have issues with gpass.it was waorking before but now, it does not load any of the servers.pls what do i do?
@bryan – It is not working at all or only for certain sites?
GPass has not been working at all for a while now. Tray icon greyed-out. Keeps looking for tunnels. Nothing happens. Anyone know what’s going on?
@David – I’ll try GPass and let you know the results.
Just had an e-mail notification of another comment here but mail contained spam ad for “The Trading Company Limited”, whoever they may be. Doesn’t appear here, so I can only assume it was deleted PDQ. Quite right, too! Might be useful to add a CAPTCHA here.
For those who find that GPass is no longer working, try UltraSurf
http://www.ultrareach.com/
Works well for me. They have an add-on for Forefox, too, which I use. Dead simple. See downloads page.

and scroll down slightly.
@David – You are right. There was a spam comment that escaped the filters, but I have deleted it manually. Yes, we should consider adding a captcha to the comments area.
Regarding GPass, you are right again. It does not work anymore. Ultrasurf is a good alternative. I also recommend Hotspot Shield.
where can I get Gpass servers name? I am having problem while connecting to gpass.
Gpass server name required. Please help
@Irfan – Unfortunately, Gpass does not work anymore. I doubt that someone will be able to provide you a Gpass server name.
I seem to remember reading somewhere about GPass possibly still working but only in certain countries. Probably those with oppressive regimes I would guess, which I won’t bother listing – we all know who they are! Presumably if you try GPass from an IP address other than the countries that it was designed for, it won’t work.
