Be conscious of online security
Almost every day we are using our personal info to make online payments for services or goods. It became such a common act to fill in our name, the credit card info, the address, etc that we sometimes forget to take the most basic precautions against hackers. Here are some piece of advice on what you should never forget.
Never submit a credit card number or other highly sensitive personal information without first making sure your connection is secure (encrypted). Basically, take a look at the URL and make sure it starts with “https://” instead of “http://“.
If you are at page that asks for such information but shows “http://” you can try adding the “s” yourself and hitting enter to reload the page. If you get an error message that the page or site does not exist, this probably means that the company is so clueless – and careless with your information and your money – that they don’t even have Web security. Then, my advice is to forget about entering you info there.
Also be on the lookout for “spyware” – software that may be included with applications you install (games, utilities, whatever), the purpose of which is to silently spy on your online habits and other details and report it back to the company whose product you are using.
To sum up, always, but always, take a good look to the site that is asking for your personal information. If you are giving away your card info to a hacker site, the fact that you are using any hide ip tool won’t save you from sever financial loses.
Happy Surfing!
