International users blocked by government control
While looking for new web proxies to unblock sites like MySpace or Facebook, I start wondering exactly what countries block their tax paying citizens to access the Internet. Everybody knows about China, Iran or North Korea. What aout other countries?
The internet censorship issue is long story. In my opinion, the Internet should be kept free, even though there is alway the threat of “bad” things like bomb making instructions, child pornography, hate speech, etc. I strongly believe, Internet censorship is not the solution to stop all these “bad” things to reach people. Internet censorship can be a solution in schools, libraries or at home, but not at country level.
So, what are the countries that restrict Internet access? On the first search I have found out that there are a lot of countries that have an internet censorship policy: Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Brazil, China, Ethiopia, Iran, India,Korea, Morocco, Myanmar, Oman, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Syria, Sudan, Thailand, Turkey, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Yemen.
Then, I found a Censorship World Map on www.wikipedia.org. Take a look:
You find out that countries like US, Canada, Australia also have a censorship policy. It this surprising? What dou you think? Is this a good thing?
For those who are living in these countries there is a simple solution: web proxies. How to find them? Simple: just google for ‘proxy’ or ‘free proxy’. You can also take a look to our posts on web proxies or search for proxies on www.hide-ip-proxy.info .
Happy Unblocking!
