How to Protect Your Torrent Traffic in Linux

Important! This is for Linux users only!

Free IP-filtering application IPlist protects your BitTorrent traffic by controlling which IP addresses can and cannot connect to your system. IPlist is a list based packet handler which uses the netfilter netlink-queue library (kernel 2.6.14 or later). It filters by IP-address and is optimized for thousands of IP-address ranges.

IPlist can be used to:

  • protect your privacy
  • ban a large number of unwanted clients
  • block whole countries or networks
  • block spam- and ad-servers

Also IPlist can be used as parental control tool.

The default list that comes with IPlist is a good start to protect your privacy, but you can also Update the list or add your own IP ranges, specific addresses, etc. All you have to do is to start IPList before running your BitTorrent client, and the app will do its work.

Enjoy!
