I am an internet user trying to bypass some firewall. I tried UltraSurf 2 hours ago and just deleted it.

Why? Because it is definitely an evil malware.

Base on sources I found on the internet, UltraSurf is a malware made and controlled by a scam organization in China named Global Internet Freedom Consortium (at Internet Freedom.org). This organization is supported by Chinese government to censor the internet and to monitor people on the internet secretly.
They also create a large botnet of computers infected by UltraSurf to attack the rest of the world such as attacking against US government websites...

As you know, China is growing up, and it does not so peacefully as it said but very evilly and violently. China is preparing for a cyber war against the world.

My advice: Do not use this malware.

Ultrasurf is a confirmed virus.

My runescape account was hacked because of it, and with the ip of the hacker, i ended up getting his address and house phone. He had access to ultrasurfs incomming stream as far as i'm aware. I lost over 400 dollars in digital items.

Hi, this was posted on the UltraSurf FAQ:

Q: Is UltraSurf a Trojan or virus?
A: Neither. UltraSurf provides users with state-of-the-art internet technology to break through firewall safely. It is a popular anti-censorship software, not a Trojan or virus. Some anti-virus software companies classify UltraSurf as a Trojan software simply because UltraSurf is able to break through firewalls. It is a mistake and a wrong classification. We are in the process of resolving this issue with these anti-virus companies through technique channels and legal channels. It is our mission to protect users' privacy when browsing the internet. Please rest assured that UltraSurf will not touch any of the documents on your PC.

any comments?

The only real problem i see with it is "exit node sniffing". Think Tor scare a while back. Realistically some malicious exit nodes could gather an enormous amount of info for taking control of your PC, i'm not sure that this is really a Trojan per se (sic). Tor is just so damned slow the powers that be have probably realized someone else is gathering all that juicy info when it could be them. There's one for the conspiracy theorists out there.
Cheers Prawna.

Any guidance on uninstalling ultrasurf?

I get 'protected or currently in use' when trying to delete the desktop icon, which says its an application. And a file search under ultrasurf or ultrareach turns up nothing.
