This means that you don't have to configure it manually. No contradiction between the two lines you mentioned :) Regarding the second issue, you probably know it's not trivial to build a tool that anonymize all requests. Take for example UltraSurf or FreeGate. They only configure automatically IE. For Firefox you need to install an add-on. If a simple way to do this existed, they would probably used it already.
