In the last months, more and more visitors (~ 40K) have come on How-to-hide-ip.info and read the articles posted here. It seems that this blog really helps people that try to overcome censorship by hiding their IP addresses. This is very encouraging and keeps me going.
The downside of the increased traffic is that during the last month How-to-hide-ip.info had several uptime problems and the speed was quite low. So I decided to spend more money and move the blog on a new, more powerful hosting.
When choosing a reliable hosting service that may support high traffic, there are many factors that you need to take into consideration:
- Linux hosting is better than Windows hosting for WordPress blogs (also for other type of blog platforms)
- Cheap web hosting does not mean better web hosting (any hosting services for lower than $5 monthly will not be reliable enough for a blog)
- Avoid oversellers (you should also avoid the hosting companies that offer high specifications while charging a low price for them, companies that offer unlimited disk space, bandwidth and domain names per account)
- Speed (how fast the websites hosted with that company load) and realiability (average uptime on the servers of that company) – the simplest way to check this is to test a site that is hosted with that company
- Check client reviews online
- Test the customer support (write them an email with questions about their service, speed, etc. and see how fast and friendly they answer)
The new hosting I chose is LiquidWeb. From the beginning I was impressed by their support. In a matter of minutes I have received answers to all my questions. Read more on their support here. Regarding the speed, How-to-hide-ip.info is loading now 40% faster than before, which is quite impressive.
The transition to the new server was smooth so no major problem should come up. But if you found anything that does not work properly please let me know.

The site didn’t open so fast from Chile. Maybe there are too many graphics and content on this page.
@Ronald – Thank you for you feedback. It is much appreciated. I will try to optimize the images and the scripts that are loading.
