This post is the third of the series dedicated to explain how to choose a hide IP software to meet your needs. The first post (How to choose a hide IP tool (I) – Free or paid?) answers to the question whether you should choose free products or paid ones. The second one (How to choose a hide IP tool (II) – Try before buy!) advises you always try a tool before you decide to buy it.
Are you using Internet Explorer or Firefox for anonymouse browsing? This post shows what alternatives you have to hide your IP for each browser.
Internet Explorer Hide IP Tools
If you are using Internet Explorer for anonymous browsing and you are confortable with it, then I have a good news: most of the products know how to automatically configure Internet Explorer. It seems that it is easy to programmatically configure internet connection settings for IE.
To hide your IP while using Internet Explorer you can use:
- Hide IP tools (they all configure IE automatically)
- Free: UltraSurf, GPass, HotSpot Shield
- Paid: IP Hider, Anonymizer Surfing, GoTrusted, IP Privacy, etc.
- Toolbars (very confortable to use if you are used with other toolbars like Google Toolbar, Stumbleupon Toolbar, Alexa Toolbar, etc): Anonymous Browsing Toolbar, Anonymous Forum Buddy
As I already mentioned, most of the hide IP tools configure IE, so, if you use Internet Explorer you will have no problems in fiding a tool to hide your IP address.
Firefox Hide IP Tools
Well, you should check carefully when chhosing a hide IP tool for Firefox. Most of products do offer limitted support for Firefox and most of the time manual configurations are needed.
Here are several tools I recommend using with Firefox :
- Hide IP tools
- Free: HotSpot Shield, UltraSurf (make sure you read: How to configure Firefox to work with Ultrasurf and UltraSurf Firefox Plugin)
- Paid: IP Privacy, GoTrusted
- Firefox Add-ons: UltraSurf Firefox Plugin, FoxTor, SwitchProxy
Hide IP solutions for both IE and Firefox
Of course, both IE and Firefox (as any other browser) can be used to browse using web proxies or can be manually configured to use open proxies. Here are several posts that explain how to do it:
- How To Hide Your IP While Browsing Using Firefox 2.x
- Firefox 3.0: How To Manually Hide Your IP
- How To Manually Change Your IP Using Internet Explorer 7.x
- How To Manually Hide Your IP Using Internet Explorer 8
- How To Manually Mask Your IP Using Safari 3.x
Other solutions that work for both browsers are VPN solutions like Hotspot Shield, GoTrusted or AlwaysVPN.
