Only difference between you, Michelle, and me is that I ended up reformatting my laptop. That was my first re-format. I am sure if you try to ping websites (for e.g ping www.yahoo.com) you will get a response. But the browsers are rendered useless. I would suggest that having this sw is dangerous and formatting the hard drive and flashing the bios is the best safety precaution you can take at this point of time.
