Privacy-Gateway.com announced today that a new release of their free tool, NotMyIP, is available for download. Downloaded by more than 5000 users, previous version of NotMyIP had an important impact in the world of those seeking for privacy and freedom.
Version 1.1 does not come with major UI changes. According to Privacy-Gateway team, new and better proxies are available and some bugs were fixed. Previous version is still supported but it is recommended to upgrade to version 1.1.
I have also upgraded NotMyIP on my computer and I was a little bit disappointed when during uninstalling NotMyIP 1.0, the setup asked me to restart the computer. I have asked Privacy-Gateway why is this necessary and here is their answer:
The technology we use to run NotMyIP, as well as Anonymity Gateway, is able to automatically configure all browsers to use a certain proxy. For Internet Explorer this is done easily, but for other browsers it is not trivial.
By using our products, one does not have to install add-ons or to manually configure browsers like Firefox, Opera or Safari. Just start NotMyIP and the IP address is changed/hidden.
When uninstalling the product, the restart operation is necesarry in order to make sure that all browsers are de-configured correctly and the user is able to continue browsing without problems.

@Salim – From the Privacy Gateway team: Please restart your computer and then try again to start NotMyIP.
i downloaded notmyipV1.1 opened it and it failed 2 detect my correct ip, it showed me an ip that was not mine and i clicked on change ip and i immediatly got a pop-up error message saying it failed to change my ip please try again.. and thats all the program does or did 4 me..
i opened my firefox3.5 and went 2 several ip showing sites and they correctly showed my ip unlike NotmyipV1.1..
i sent an e-mail to privacy-gateway support team a couple days ago and they have not responded as of yet..
also i ran a Avira antivirus scan and it detected this companys program as a positive Trojan, i clicked on more info and Avira says that because it steals information..
Jep same error and my antivir think pcproxy.exe is a trojan

@kupalogski – I have tried NotMyIP and it works good. I don’t care who is the owner of the product and what they do to earn their money.
heya pepz i downloaded notmyipv1.1 nd when i tried to change ma ip for tha first time it sed i shud close all tha tabs so i did nd ma ip changed nd wile later i restart ma pc thn i tried to change ma ip again it sed dat i shud close all tha tabs i did but unfortuntley it dint work out plz replaybak thx

@avan – Are using NotMyIP 1.0 or 1.1?
@avan – Try this: go to Advanced tab, choose an IP that starts with 208 and press Change IP button. Then open Internet Explorer and check your IP. Let me know the result.
“failed to change ip. please try again.” I keep getting this message, anyone want to help me?
@Greenprince – It seems that there is a problem with NotMyIP these days. I will let the developers know.
@HideIP Admin – Thanks for the update I just thought my computer wasn’t allowing the program to run. It’d be great if you inform me when the issues with NotMyIP are fixed and I’m able to see it again. Thanks again.
i juste Dl NotMyIP, i kept gettin this msg (failed to change ip, please try again), in the select proxy contry box there’s nothing no proxy’s no ip’s empty, i need help please. thx
why do i always get the popup saying its a TROJAN? is it safe to use?
