If you are concerned about your privacy and anonymity then you should go for those services that offer OpenVPN connections.

I haven’t tried out HideIpVPN (yet) so I can’t comment, but I see HideIP Admin covered you on this. It uses OpenVPN, which is a plus over InvisibleBrowsingVPN, which I also haven’t used and won’t until some iprovements are implemented (see below).

Since I got seriously interested in this (thanks to you to a large part) I’ve come across quite a lot of readings stating that PPTP has serious privacy & security vulnerabilities. Even InvisibleBrowsingVPN admits to this in the FAQ.
Does “No installation needed” rely on the use of MS-PPTP? If yes, this is the worst you can get (quite some reputable sources on this).

So, if a solution offers only PPTP, it’s a no go for me.

At this time, probably the best solution are the VPN services. No installation needed (for PPTP) so there are no danger of malware or virus infection.

Regarding the 2 VPNs you have mentioned, HideIpVPN has excellent reviews and works great. InvisibleBrowsingVPN is still very new, but I have tested and also it’s a good choice. Both have trials.

About SmartHide blacklisted IP’s,this definitely news to me!.Thanks for the info.Guess I may have to query about this in their member’s forum or contact the company directly.You said that they didn’t respond till the expiry of license,may be something is not right there.I also use http://www.myiptest.com after I came and learned it from http://www.how-to-hide-ip.info.I again totally agree with you that no avg. user would like to have the blot of spammer instilled upon them.Anyway the license I have is for 1 month only,I will be careful about about blacklisted IP’s from now onwards.Its seem even reputed companies aren’t taking care care of there products,IP Privacy software which was I installed was flagged by my AV[Mcafee VirusScan] as having a backdoor infection,which is very serious if you know what I mean.I thinking of switching over to Invisible Browsing VPN and HideIpVpn,what do you think of these two?Are they having any problems?

Thanks for the reply. I quess I’ll have to ask the company, though it feels wrong for a company in this line of business to not have a Privacy Policy publicly available. Even so, it should definetely come with the trial version – if you don’t agree, you don’t use it, simple as that.

About SmarHide, yes it’s fast and does what it says, but it offers quite some IPs blacklisted in relation to spam, so when you’re asigned one of those you look really bad on the net. I found out by accident when visiting a site which gave me the alert. After that, I checked them all to pick one that was “clean”.
Now, I check every single one at http://www.myiptest.com/, even those of my own ISP – if it’s “stained” in any way, I reject it and get another.
But the really negative side is that they don’t seem to act on this – I reported the issue to them and, up to the moment my license expired, I had gotten no respond from them and those blacklisted IPs were still available as before. No average user wants to be connected to spam actions – unless you are a professional spammer, of course.
In the long run, this will hurt their reputation; competition grows and more options are available out there.

I have one concern: there’s no Terms of Use or Privacy Policy on their site.
