7 Good StrongVPN Alternatives

StrongVPN, the American based company established in 1995, is one of best and reliable VPN services on the market. The number of servers and locations is really impressive. More than 72 servers in 10 countries like US, UK, Germany, Netherlands, Canada  are available.

The weak point of StrongVPN is probably the support. The response time is long and some questions are never answered.

If you are looking for StrongVPN alternatives, I have selected several VPN services that have an extended number of servers, offer good support and the price is lower that StrongVPN for similar service.

All the vpns you guys mentioned above are expensive. except acevpn. I never used it, but using one with same price with it – FBvpn, also USD 5/mon. Really easy to setup, and fast, I don’t think a VPN service should expensive than USD 10 a month.

Yes, very expensive. 12vpn.com has a solid basic plan for $30/year (limit of 10GB/month download). Great set of features, support for Mac, Windows, Linux, iPhone/iPad/iPod, Symbian, and more. Solid list of protocols, encryption, protocols. No limits on server switches, etc. No need to pay the kind of fees charged in this list.

Kevin & Betsy, why would you get service from FBvpn when it’s over twice the price of 12vpn ($30/year)? I just wondering since I’m going to choose a vpn service and 12vpn has gotten good reviews like http://asia.cnet.com/blogs/sinobytes/post.htm?id=63014818

TBZ , 12vpn has a limit of 10GB/month download…You can just see this when you spend sometime to investigate the website, but FBVPN doesn’t have any limitation of the bandwidth and speed.

12VPN also has no speed limit either. You seem to suggest that 10GB is not enough for the average user – in which case they also offer an unlimited package.

10GB probably is enough though, unless you watch hours of Hulu every day. Also, 12VPN’s hybrid routing function makes it very easy to limit your VPN use to only those website that you need it for. This not only helps to prevent you from reaching the 10GB limit, it also avoids unnecessarily adding overhead to websites that don’t really need the VPN in the first place.

I do not agree that Strong VPN has slow support. ON THE CONTRARY – IT IS INSTANT.

Strong VPN has 24/7 online chat or skype support and they have never failed to resolve any issue right then and there on the rare occasion I need it. Also, the package I have costs $55 per year and that makes it the least expensive of the bunch. So, great price, great service and one the VPN with a great reputation. Why look elsewhere?

I tried Strong VPN and it was OK. But price for what you get is NOT OK. The $55/year package is essentially a crippled account with very limited servers and limited switching. The normal listed packages are $75 to $360!!!!! a year! I quit using it when I needed to switch servers and they tried to get me to upgrade. Lost part of year’s payment but oh well, lesson learned.

Oh yeah, you mentioned $55/year is the least expensive of the bunch? I signed up with 12vpn listed above and get waaaay more but only paid half of that! $30/year for 15 servers, unlimited speed, unlimited switches. I also get OpenVPN and PPTP and can use it on my iPhone and iPad. I got the lite service with a 10GB/month limit but have never even come close to the limit. They also have a plan with no data limit, it’s $65/year.

Whichever provider you choose good luck! However, I’ve used StrongVPN for the last year and resubscribed today. It cost me USD 85 for the year and I’ve been more than happy with the speed, support and service. (That’s for OpenVPN not PPTP BTW.)
