As you probably know already, SwitchProxy add-on does not work with Firefox 3.0. Jeremy Gillick has not updated this great add-on from November 2006, so, obviously, there is no update for Firefox 3.0.
For those who never heard or used it, SwitchProxy is a nice tool that lets you supervise and switch between several proxy configurations promptly and without any difficulty. As I explained in previous post (How To Hide Your IP Using SwitchProxy Firefox Add-on), SwitchProxy is ideal for those interested in hiding their IPs by using proxies.
So, what to do if you upgraded to Firefox 3.0 and still want to use SwitchProxy add-on? Here is what you can do:
1. Use Multiproxy Switch, which is based on SwitchProxy, and it can work on Firefox 3.0 (I will come back with more details about this add-on in a later post)
2. Use the upgrade for Firefox 3.0 proposed by random($foo). Here is the direct download link for SwitchProxy for Firefox 3.0.
I hope that Jeremy Gillick will find time to upgrade SwitchProxy in the near future, as it would be sad to have this great add-on dead and buried.

A web proxy is the simplest method to unblock sites like MySpace, YouTube, Facebook or Bebo. The principle is very simple: a web proxy acts like an intermediate between you and the site your are trying to access. This way the internet filter that may control your internet connection would not know what you are accessing and would not be able to block you.
Here are 10 of the most well known web proxies available:
- Unblockall.net
- IP: 74.86.240.106
- Location: Dallas, TX United States
- Pros: it is more than a simple web proxy site; no ads (!)
- HideMyAss.com
- IP: 67.159.44.138
- Location: Woodstock, IL United States
- Pros: nice name & nice template
- MyUsProxy.info
- IP: 216.245.209.122
- Location: United States
- Pros: no ads at all (!)
- IPSafety.net
- IP: 74.208.16.108
- Location: Wayne, PA United States
- Unblocked.org

In the last several weeks, I wrote several posts about IP Hider, the hide ip software that I use quite often and that works nicely these days.
Today, browsing on the product site (www.allanonymity.com) I saw they have an interesting promotion: if you buy a license of their product, IP Hider, you also get a license for a keylogger, All-Spy Keylogger. Here is what they say about this promotion:
AllAnonymity.com and All-Spy.com have teamed up in order to provide you the best of their products: IP Hider and All-Spy KeyLogger.
…
Our current promotion offers you the possibility to receive two excellent products purchasing only one product at your choice. For every IP Hider license purchased you will receive, totally for free, an All-Spy Keylogger license.
The price of each product is $29.95.
I am not going to benefit of this offer as I already have a license of IP Hider, but maybe you will find the promotion interesting.
Enjoy!

I have selected a number of 5 web proxies you can use to change your IP to an IP from Spain. Web proxies can be easily used to unblock MySpace, YouTube, Orkut or any other site you are not allowed to view at school or at home.
Unfortunatelly, all spanish web proxies that I found are located on the same server and they have the same IP address. Here they are:
http://oakproxy.com (CGIProxy, SSL, IP: 89.207.233.158)
http://dauw.info (CGIProxy, IP: 89.207.233.158)
http://erme.info (CGIProxy, IP: 89.207.233.158)
http://etym.info (CGIProxy, IP: 89.207.233.158)
http://v52.net (PHProxy, IP: 89.207.233.158)
If you know other web proxies from Spain please post a comment and let me know.

Here is a quick guide on how to find the IP address of an email sender in Yahoo! Mail. This is useful if someone is harassing you via email, flooding your inbox with junk mail or any other reason you may have to find the location of the email sender.
After you find out the IP address of the sender you just have to use a location lookup service (GeoBytes IP Locator or IP2Location) to find the exact location (country, city, etc) of the sender. You should also read: Tracking the location of an IP address.
Important! You will not be able to find the real IP address if the sender uses an anonymous proxy server.

IP Hider is one of the simplest hide ip solutions that I ever used. After the installation, you just have to choose a proxy. Then the proxy is tested and if it is working you can press “Enable Online Anonymity” button and … your IP address is changed.
The problem with IP Hider and products alike is that they are dependent on proxies. If the proxies are slow or not available, the product will not work, meaning that will not change your IP or it will slow your internet connection so bad that it will be unusable.
The good news is that AllAnonymity.com has just released a new version of their product IP Hider, much better than the previous one. I have just tried it and it works great. They have listed about 20 very fast proxies. I suppose that these proxies are their own proxies as I could not find them in any free/open proxy list. This is a very good thing as it guaranties a certain speed and availability.

Sometimes you may need to find out the exact location of an IP address. For example, if you pick up a proxy from a proxy list (like SamAir.ru), you get only the country where the proxy is located. To find out the exact location of the IP you should perform a location lookup. There are many sites/services that can do this. My favorites are GeoBytes IP Locator and IP2Location.
GeoBytes shows a Google map of city, along with a bunch of other information (country, city, latitude, longitude, distance to nearby cities, etc.) about the location itself.

“Can I hide my IP address from my ISP (Internet Service Provider)?”.
First of all, why would you be interested in doing this? ISP usually logs your online activities and can even ban or warn you if you perform certain activities (e.g. download copyrighted movies form torrents).
So, can you hide your IP from ISP? The answer is: NO. You can not hide from your ISP because they are the ones who assign the IPs.
What you can do is to ensure you are not monitored or tracked when using the internet. You can hide your web browsing habits (e.g. visiting torrent sites) from your ISP by using Tor.

In a previous post, I have written about a good product that I use from time to time: IP Privacy. I use it mainly to change my IP to an United States address. The product lists some very fast US proxies.
Today, I saw that the proxy list also contains some servers/proxies from Germany, so you can use IP Privacy also if you need to change your IP to german one.
Here is what you have to do:
1. Download IP Privacy from Privacy-Pro.com site or directly from here and install it (Install…Next…Next…Finish)
2. Select a server from Germany (Germany Premium) in the same way you would select a US Proxy

3. Then press Enable Online Anonymity button. That will change your IP to an IP from Germany. Simply, isn’t it? To be sure, check our What Is My IP Address page.
Important! If you are using Firefox you need to go first to Settings, press Browser Configuration, check Firefox and press Apply. Then go back to the main window (Status) and press Enable Online Anonymity button.
When you don’t longer need a german IP, just press Disable Online Anonymity button.

If you got banned on a forum or you just need to change your IP address, here are some options available (depending on your configuration).
Important! If you have a static IP address these options do not apply. You should call your ISP and ask them to change your IP address.
Important! Before trying to change your IP, always delete your browser cookies. Here is how you can do this.
1) If have dialup connection, try using a different access number. That will most probably change your IP address.
2) For Cable/DSL (no router) internet connections, go to Start menu, type in cmd and hit Enter. Then type ipconfig /release and hit Enter. Further type ipconfig /renew and hit Enter.
3) If #3 did not work and you are using Cable/DSL (no router), then you should try this: go to Start menu, type in cmd and hit Enter. Then type ipconfig /release and hit Enter.
Then right-click on your Local Area Connection and choose Properties. Double click on Internet Protocol TCP/IP. Click Use the following ip address and enter 123.123.123.123 for the ip and 255.0.0.0 for the subnet mask. Click OK, and then again OK. Go back to the previous dialog box and instead of Use the following ip address choose Obtain an ip address automatically.
