How to Use a Tibia Proxy

Tibia is a huge online multiplayer computer game which is hosted on internet servers. In order to play Tibia you need to connect to the TCP port 7171 on the server. Depending on which ISP you’re with will effect whether or not you can play the game or if you’ll be blocked by a proxy server or network firewall.

If you decide you would like to avoid this problem entirely then you can choose to set-up a “Tibia Proxy” which basically is a special internet server that doesn’t require you to have a port 7171 connection. Alternatively the Tibia proxy server will request to be sent through other ports (like 80) which most likely won’t be blocked by the network.

In order to set-up a Tibia Proxy all you have to do is obtain a list of the currently open Tibia servers and their IP addresses and then configure your client to use them. An IP address, or an Internet Protocol, is a standard that allows computers to communicate over a network. This address is not just limited to computers, but many other business machines – printers, scanners, and even some telephones – have IP addresses integrated, as well. An IP address helps these machines communicate with each other, acting as a locater, not necessarily a unique identifier of the machine. Many computers and such technologies using IP addresses actually use dynamic assignment, constantly updating and changing their IP addresses automatically or with the help of software.

My IP Address Is Blacklisted. What To Do?

If you keep receiving emails that you would like to send back to your inbox, then there is a great chance that your IP is really blacklisted. That means, that you are not able to send any emails, until your IP gets deleted from the list. There are different ways how to get your IP from that list, but first, lets check that your IP is really blacklisted. The emails that you receive back should look something like this:

The easiest way to get your email working again is just wait. Most of the IP’s get off the black list in 24 hours. If this does not help or you just do not want to wait so long, you should write an email to your host, and they should be able to help you with your problem and they can also tell you what exactly has been going on with your email address that it got blacklisted. Its probably a malicious software on your computer or a warez script on your web server that is sending out spam emails.

Spammers are notorious for being annoying, obnoxious, and can be an absolute destructive force hidden behind the cloak the protection of a keyboard, monitor and computer gives them. Despite how absolutely frustrating getting spam emails and spam pop-ups can be, you have to hand it to the spammer in the mask. They are usually technological geniuses and extremely clever, able to do things with a computer that most others couldn’t. Instead of use a normal URL, such as http://www.insert-domain-name-here.com, a spammer will hide his web address behind a string of numbers. This might look something like: http://83458937892/?. At first glance, it looks like nothing but a randomly written line of numbers that couldn’t possibly go anywhere. They didn’t even care to specify whether it was a .com or .net or .org address. Upon further inspection, one could deduct it is a valid link and will take you just where that spammer wanted you to go. He has successfully tricked you by hiding his real domain name.

IP Addresses Explained

Every computer has an exclusive number associated in order to be able to work properly and efficiently on the internet or in any local network. This exclusive or unique number is called an address because it makes possible for a computer to be identified, recognized by other computers and also to communication with them.

This unique address is called an IP address (Internet Protocol address) that computers make use of in order to identify and converse with each other on an internet network.

This address is in the form of XXX . XXX . XXX . XXX where XXX is an integer number between 0 and 255. An IP address shows two things: first the network to which the computer fits in and the host, which is the number of the computers. IP addresses can be classified as private IP addresses (where computers are not connected directly to the Internet) and public IP addresses (where computers connected directly to the Internet).

An IP address can be static or dynamic. Static IP addresses are allocated by the system administrator to every computer and dynamic IP addresses are allocated by another device connected to the network. When the computer is linked to a local area network (LAN), for instance in the corporate network or at home, the IP address is decided while organizing the network and is generally static. Such IP addresses can be, for example, 192.168.0.1, also known as private IP addresses. On the other hand, when connecting to the internet network, the Internet Service Provider (ISP) decides the IP address which will recognize your PC when it is connected via modem to the internet, known as a public IP address. IP addresses for linking to the internet, considered a wide area network (WAN), and can be dynamic or static, depending on the Internet Service Provider.

Determining IP Address from MAC Address

Computers can determine IP addresses from MAC addresses using DHCP and formerly other protocols like RAddress Resolution Protocol and Address Resolution Protocol. DHCP  Manages network configuration by registering and updating IP addresses and DNS names. 

There is no universal mechanism for an end user to determine an IP address given a known MAC address, although it can be done in certain specific situations. The Address Resolution Protocol (Formerly known as ARP) allows a host to find the MAC address of a node with an IP address on the same physical network, when given the node’s IP address. To make Address Resolution Protocol efficient, each computer caches IP-to-MAC address mappings to eliminate repetitive Address Resolution Protocol broadcast requests.

How Can I Find the IP Address of a Web Site?

There are several reasons you may wish to learn the IP address of a website, however, one of the main reasons is to learn the location of the website or at least their hosting company.

The easiest way to find the IP address of a web site is by using a various websites online that offer domain tools such that will do a whois search. Not every whois search will provide you with the IP address of a web site. I tried several different websites that offered whois lookup and the one that provides the best information is found at domaintools.com. Here you can type in the url of a web site in the Whois Lookup and receive not only the IP address but other important information as well.

Along with the IP address, you will also learn the date the web site created, the date it will expire, the IP Location, the status of the domain, and its blacklist status. All of these are important if you are considering doing business with the web site.
