If you have read my previous posts on how to hide your IP by changing the browser connection settings, you already know you need a proxy. Here are the posts I am talking about:
Where do I found proxies?
There are several places where you can find proxies. Just go on Google and search for “proxy list” and you’ll get plenty of results. One of the best source for proxies is SamAir. What I don’t link is that it is not easy to find proxies from a certain country.
Today, I have found another proxy source and I liked the way proxies are grouped. Take a look to the AtomInterSoft list. You can easily choose a country, then see the available proxies from that country. Nice!

We have received the following questions from Larry:
1. Do you use Gpass yourself for your free anonymous surfing ?
2. Do you use or can you recommend any very good paid anonymous proxy server services that actually work, I’ve tested a few myself that do not work, the latest version of Anonymizer just don’t work at all.
3. Have you done any research on other forms of anonymizing yourself, such as vpn tunneling?
Larry, here are the answers to your questions:
1. Yes, we are using Gpass and we are somehow satisfied with the results. See the pros and the cons that we have identified / considered about using Gpass. Overall is one of the best free solutions available on the Internet.
2. We have been evaluation several paid solutions and you can find our comments on this blog. Lately we have found out Hide-IP-Browser which is a great application (unfortunately is just version 1.0 – which means that is not that stable as other applications) that can hide your IP easily. We will post a review about this application soon on the blog.
The pros for Hide-Ip-Browser are: you can select the country for the proxy, you can even select the location (which is a great feature), the proxy speed is very good.
The cons are: it is a browser itself so you cannot use it with other browsers, it is version 1.0 which means that some small problems (I guess they are bugs) still appear. Overall we think that this is the most promicing application that we have tested.

Did you know that search engines track your every move while you are searching online? It was reported not long ago in the New York Times that big search engines such as AOL, Google, Yahoo!, and MSN were all collecting data from their users. All of these search engines are monitoring and storing your searches along with other data such as your behavior while online. This information may in some cases, not only be seen by those involved with your favorite search engine but also in many cases, third parties.
The idea of TrackMeNot came about when the creators realized that legislator would take a very long time in coming and we need something that will protect our Fourth Amendments now not in months and possibly years to come. TrackMeNot is a solution that can be used right now to hide your searches in a “cloud of ghost queries”. The only problem is that you must have a Firefox browser installed or you are out of luck, on the other hand, Firefox is very easy to download and install just like TrackMeNot.
Using TrackMeNot will give you more privacy and protect your information from search engines that might sell your information to third parties. Installing is very simple. All you have to do is follow the instructions in plain English. After a few seconds of installing, you will be able to see that search queries begin to show up in your status bar.

These will be sent to search engines, faking them out as to where you are really going or what you are searching for while online. You can, if you desire, disable the display function.

Johas asked me to recommend some good website proxies from Germany. To my surprise, these are not easy to find. After some extensive search on different sites that list website proxies here is what I found:
http://beatmyfilter.com (IP: 87.106.136.70)
http://www.proxydom.com (IP: 89.149.244.184)
http://unblockbypass.com (IP: 85.10.204.167)*
http://surfingfast.info (IP: 87.118.98.103)*
http://www.veryfastproxy.com (IP: 85.119.157.52)
http://nie.skasowane.pl/gl (IP: 194.169.192.221)
* There are several domains/proxies that are using the same IP address, there was no point in listing them all.
Do you know other german proxies? If you do, don’t be shy and post the domain name and the IP address.

Revealing ourselves online is a risk we play when using the internet. Even if you use various search engines, like Google, Yahoo, or MSN’s options, you could be giving away a lot of personal information. These search providers, amongst the various others, all track your search data using your IP and/or internet cookies to identify you. If you are stuck using one IP address the whole time you use the internet, and that data is found, someone could view all of your search records leaving you very embarrassed or making you a victim of identity theft.
1. One key point to protecting yourself is to never enter any personal data into a search engine.
Sometimes, we may want to see what happens when we enter our name in a search, but your name will be linked to anything else you have searched on that IP. It wouldn’t be the smartest decision to search your social security number or credit card numbers online.
2. Protecting your IP address is probably the easiest way to start defending yourself from online attacks.
There are plenty of programs that can help you do this. Tor is one such tool that will switch your IP, maki
ng it impossible to track the location you are in. This is especially important for internet users that have to surf on a static IP address.
3. Searching from different locations is another way you can protect your search data from appearing on one IP address.
No two places are hit with the same IP address. If you work on a network of computers, like in an office behind a firewall, you won’t have to worry about your identity being as easily distinguished as others. For users on a broadband connection, your modem will assign an IP address every time it is rebooted. Using a new IP address with this type of connection is simple as it only requires you to turn off the modem, and restart it to create a new IP address for all your searching needs.

Internet proxy websites are sites that you can use to conceal your identity on the Internet or just to be able to access Internet websites that have been restricted for you to use.
There are two widely used variants of proxy, the PHProxy and the CGIProxy. They are both used for the same general reason, but have different features and enable you tu use different websites and scripts. A CGIProxy will not only conceal your identity but it also gives you the greatest amount of protection. Because it blocks most of the Client-side scripts it gives you all the protection that you need. You will have no cookies, no scripts, no ads and no referrers and with that you can be sure that the website you are visiting is not collecting any information from you. This can also mean that some thing that you could normally use on websites may not work or may not work in the way they are supposed to work. If the cookies are not stored on your computer you will not be able to use shopping baskets in web stores because the information should be stored on your computer.

The Internet should be freely accessible to everyone, no matter where and when, this is one of the main ideas of it, and this is why it works so great. There are some limitations that are put upon us by governments, CEO’s or other “important” people that would like to stop us to view specific websites. But there are ways how to get around such limitations and this article will show you how to use a PHProxy, a website script that hides your identity and allows you to access and use blocked sites.
A PHProxy website is proxy will offer you a entry field, where you enter the http address of the website you would like to connect to. But it does not only hide your identity, it also does other things like removes all the client-side scripts (scripts that should run on your computer) but still allows HTTP cookies. Other features that a PHProxy script offers by default are: it shows images and refers websites in HTTP headers, strips meta HTML tags and the website’s title and it opens the entered URL in a new window.

Tibia is a huge online multiplayer computer game which is hosted on internet servers. In order to play Tibia you need to connect to the TCP port 7171 on the server. Depending on which ISP you’re with will effect whether or not you can play the game or if you’ll be blocked by a proxy server or network firewall.
If you decide you would like to avoid this problem entirely then you can choose to set-up a “Tibia Proxy” which basically is a special internet server that doesn’t require you to have a port 7171 connection. Alternatively the Tibia proxy server will request to be sent through other ports (like 80) which most likely won’t be blocked by the network.
In order to set-up a Tibia Proxy all you have to do is obtain a list of the currently open Tibia servers and their IP addresses and then configure your client to use them. The list of the active servers will constantly be changing and it will need updating all the time. Also when you’re choosing a Tibia Proxy choose wisely because some of them are out there to steal your accounts amongst other illegal activities. You will won’t to stay away from these servers, try finding a friendly server that you can use all the time and it that would be best.
